Emperor Caesar was left speechless: “…How could I find a male Beastman to secretly help me have a child during my reign?” Adonis was his only son.
“That’s good.” It seemed the position of Crown Prince was secured.
Shuai Chang took Anqiluo’s hand and said, “Anqiluo, quickly, call him ‘Father and Mother.’”
Emperor Caesar’s keen gaze was fixed on Anqiluo as he watched. Anqiluo’s rosy lips parted and closed several times before finally murmuring, “…Father and Mother.”
Emperor Caesar nodded in satisfaction, “Not bad. You are Adonis’s partner, and the Crown Princess of the Beastman planet. Once Adonis becomes Emperor, you will be the Empress, sharing this entire planet with him. Speak with confidence to everyone, for your backing is the son of the most esteemed person in this world.”
“Yes, Father and Mother!” Anqiluo felt a rush of excitement and called out loudly.
Emperor Caesar was even more pleased, “You both are quite impressive.”
“At the ascension ceremony the day after tomorrow, I will publicly announce your identities. Tomorrow, someone will bring the outfits for you as Crown Prince and Crown Princess.”
Emperor Caesar had reigned for twenty years without children; his nine brothers were restless, frequently bribing officials to mention the matter of adoption in the court. Just as Emperor Caesar was about to crumble under the pressure, his secret guards brought news that his son had been found, right among the army.
The very next day, he received a report from General Cane, which mentioned a lieutenant who had killed six hundred and forty thousand fallen Beastmen during the Beast Tide, and was a rare white tiger at the age of twenty, raised in an orphanage. Almost instantly, Emperor Caesar identified the information.
Adonis must be his son.
Unable to wait for the ascension ceremony to reveal this, Emperor Caesar rushed to the military to meet his son.
The outcome was excellent; Adonis did not rebel against him, and Emperor Caesar happily settled down in the military.
General Cane had no idea what was happening. He thought Emperor Caesar would come to the military for a visit and then leave, but to his surprise, he refused to leave after meeting Adonis.
General Cane was anxious, fearing that Emperor Caesar wouldn’t be accustomed to life in the military.
After witnessing a moment of interaction between General Cane and Emperor Caesar, Shuai Chang comforted, “Your Majesty is a very good person; you don’t have to be afraid. Twenty years ago, Your Majesty participated in the Beast Tide himself, how could he possibly not adapt to military life?”
General Cane found himself persuaded by Shuai Chang.
Emperor Caesar dispatched palace attendants to specifically teach Adonis and Anqiluo etiquette. Both learned quickly and well; according to the attendants, Adonis and his partner were born to be royal.
Emperor Caesar was pleased to hear this and generously rewarded the attendants with five hundred culling beast teeth.
The ascension ceremony proceeded as scheduled, with all soldiers gathered at the training ground.
General Cane spoke briefly and then formally introduced Emperor Caesar.
As soon as Emperor Caesar appeared, the soldiers erupted into cheers, calling his name and raising their hands in jubilation.
Emperor Caesar raised his right hand for silence, and all soldiers snapped to attention, the ground becoming silent.
Emperor Caesar nodded in satisfaction and first encouraged the soldiers who had survived the Beast Tide, then announced preferential policies for the families of sacrificed soldiers.
After finishing, he handed the floor back to General Cane.
“There are a total of four hundred and twenty-one people being promoted today. One hundred and twenty-seven soldiers are being promoted, sixty-nine to lieutenant, fifty-three to second lieutenant, seventy-seven to captain, and ninety-five to major and above. Let us congratulate them.”
Once the applause subsided, General Cane cleared his throat and loudly declared, “In this Beast Tide, there was one lieutenant whose performance was exceptionally outstanding, single-handedly slaying six hundred and forty thousand fallen Beastmen. Let us welcome Adonis and his partner, Anqiluo!”
As Shuai Chang and Anqiluo took the stage in matching white formal attire resembling Emperor Caesar’s, everyone was stunned; even having heard that Adonis killed six hundred and forty thousand fallen Beastmen, they were not this shocked.
“How dare they wear royal attire? Do they not know, or is it intentional?”
“Are they too full of themselves to match the Emperor?”
“I’m certain he has lost his title of Marshal.”
“His rank of Marshal is gone +10086.”
Whispers among tens of thousands surged like waves onto the stage. General Cane rapped on the table, “Quiet!”
The training ground immediately fell silent, but he knew this was only temporary.
Though General Cane was surprised by Adonis and Anqiluo’s attire, it wasn’t the time to dwell on such matters. He respectfully approached Emperor Caesar, saying, “Your Majesty, the announcement of the Marshal’s promotion requires you to declare it.”
Emperor Caesar nodded, “Today, I announce a matter here. Adonis is my long-lost son, gifted with exceptional abilities, having slain six hundred and forty thousand fallen Beastmen during the Beast Tide. His contribution is remarkable, and today, in the presence of all of you, I have decided to declare Adonis as the Crown Prince and Anqiluo as the Crown Princess.”
Emperor Caesar picked up a golden seal from the tray at his back, addressed Adonis: “The military seal; I pass it to you today.”
All soldiers present felt as though they had wasted the past twenty years of their lives. The world could harbor such a fantastical event where a male Beastman from an orphanage could be the Emperor’s only son.
General Cane was equally dumbfounded; he previously thought Shuai Chang becoming a Marshal was already the pinnacle of life. Who knew the latter would turn around and become the Emperor’s biological son, personally named successor by Emperor Caesar and titled Crown Prince.
This overwhelming protagonist aura left him trembling.
Even if General Cane worked hard to reach the rank of Marshal, it would not be as good as being first to Shuai Chang.
With a sigh in his heart, General Cane was the first to smile and clap, “Let us congratulate His Majesty for reclaiming the Crown Prince!”
The soldiers in the audience whispered.
“I got slapped in the face.”
“A winner in life, he could have been a Marshal, but instead ended up as a Crown Prince!”
“Am I the only one who feels Anqiluo has bet on the right horse?”
“What else to say, Adonis is outstanding; didn’t you see General Cane applauding? What are we waiting for, let’s applaud!”
